On Saturday 11th October, Garforth Brass hosted its annual Chairman’s Charity Concert that featured performances by both its contesting and training bands.
The event marked an exciting milestone for several Training Band members, as it was their first public concert performance.
The Contesting Band delivered a varied and entertaining programme. A particular highlight of the evening was a joint performance of William Rimmer’s contest march Slaidburn, played by both bands together. The piece held special significance for the Training Band, who had previously performed a junior arrangement earlier this year at the Drovers March and Hymn Contest in Wetherby.
The concert raised a total of £476.45 for the Martin House Children’s Hospice, thanks to the generous support of those in attendance.
Special congratulations go to Daniel Walton who won the Bandsperson of the year award, and to the training band’s trombonist Isaac, who won the most improved player of the year award.
Garforth Brass would like to thank everyone who came along, supported the event, and contributed to a memorable evening of music-making and community spirit.
